The Dub - Buckle Up

[upbeat music] So let's start there then.

Uh, that game in Devon, two-all between Exeter and Oxford United.

Then a loss in the bonus ball hook-a-duck, a shootout for a bonus point and a goldfish.

That would've been nice, wouldn't it? Um, pre-season friendly, uh, in all but name really.

And, uh, a warm-up, I suppose, after two and a half weeks without a game.

Uh, Ben, what did you make of it all?

Who knows about this competition, right? I know, I know there's people on this podcast that, that don't enjoy it very much, whether that's for football, you know, because they don't wanna go to Exeter on a Tuesday night maybe, or for whatever reason.

But it is good once you get, o- once you stay the distance.

Where we are as a squad, as a football club, whilst we've had this long break, there have been certain games going on in this league, and we all of a sudden-

... find ourselves having only played like six games in that.

It, it is just odd.

Um, so look-

Mm

...

I, I, I don't think we necessarily need the competition where, where we're at.

I think that was shown in team selection and, and, and potentially performance and motivation, and maybe even penalty takers selected.

Unless anyone was to tell me different, I don't think we learnt too much.

I thought Jamie Cumming maybe could've done a bit better with the second goal and, you know, I don't know what his, his fitness has been like and what it was like pre-international break.

My sense would've been that the plan was to get him back in after the international break once he's fully rested and settled.

Um, but part of me, I guess, to say something remotely interesting about the game is thinking, oh, you know, is there a question mark as to whether actually Simon Eastwood starts on, uh, against Notts County? Um, when I take a step back, I don't see that.

I see Cumming coming back in.

But over to others for their opinion [laughs] on the game.

[laughs] That's what we like.

Um-
