In this episode of Ask Dubey, Devan Dubnyk answers your biggest Edmonton Oilers questions before announcing an exciting new chapter for the show. Dubey breaks down the Oilers' revamped goaltending…
All right, let's get into some of the moves that Stan made.
Do you have a favorite? Do you, and do you have one that you're m- most hesitant to be excited for?
Um, I think honestly my favorite ones was the kind of the deals he got done before free agency even started.
You see some of the contracts that got handed out to people around the league, and I love Vinnie Daharnai.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
And when you saw some of these contracts going out and in the morning it was slow for the Oilers, you kinda went, "You know what? I don't mind that they're not participating in this craziness." It was a shallow free agent class this year.
And I think it was Tyler's been saying it for a handful of weeks now, it's the summer of sticker shock, and we got a lot of it.
Mm.
So actually my favorite moves were Jason Dickinson and Connor Murphy getting done, whatever it was, a week before free agency even started.
Mm
... done the thing where, "Oh, we're just gonna go test, see what's out there," and maybe they come back to Edmonton after, Jason Dickinson doesn't sign for $4 million when Boone Jenner got almost 6.
Uh-huh.
So I just think that some of the moves that got done early, big pieces there, um, I love those.
And then obviously I never expected Darnell Nurse to be traded with zero retention.
Mm-hmm.
