Expanding the Portfolio with Angela Yee part I

Well, yes, I did The Breakfast Club for 12 years.

Before that, I was at Sirius for six years on Shade 45.

And now I've been doing Way Up With Angela Yee.

And that has been amazing for me just to do things on my own terms.

be able to really start something from the ground up.

And I love being able to do that.

And so that means that I was the person that was coming up with whatever segments, I book whatever interviews I want to book.

You know, I'm really like the one calling the shots.

And that's kind of what I wanted.

When I left Sirius to join The Breakfast Club, I knew I always wanted to one day have my own show again.

And that opportunity came and I jumped on it.

OK, on the teleprompter, it says media maven and financial advocate, which is true.

But there's a lot that you've done outside of that.

And I really want to get into that from a business perspective to let people know how much you've diversified.

But first, tell me why you left the Breakfast Club and what your your business agenda was in doing that.

Well, before I even was on The Breakfast Club, the reason that they even recruited me to come to iHeart was because I had a show on Sirius.

And I was doing mornings.

There was called The Morning After with Angela Yee.

Right.

And so when I left to go join a team, I always knew one day I want to go back to having my own show.

And I think I was definitely 12 years in before...

The 12 years, I knew like at some point I was going to leave.

The pandemic came.

It was important to kind of like stick it out.

But we had been having conversations.
