Zainab bint YunusHostAs-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh, and welcome to the Muslim Matters podcast.
Today's episode is a continuation of our series on Muslims and money, where we explore how Muslims can be, and must be, financially literate throughout every stage in life.
For this episode on marriage and money, we're joined by Sana and Sinan of Amal Finance.
Sainab Khan is the founder of ML Finance and is a financial expert drawing on over a decade of experience in the accounts and finance sector.
Dr. Mohamed Sinan Siej, who is brings experience as a lecturer and researcher alongside work with grassroots Muslim organizations.
He has conducted research on Muslim communities as part of his PhD and work and has published widely on Islam, politics, foreign policy, and contemporary society.
The two of you are doing just such amazing work on such a necessary subject for Muslims.
This contributes to larger social discussions about wages, job security, and then it transfers into gender roles and relationship dynamics.
We're often juggling other factors such as cultural expectations around marriage and money, unclear ideas about how one maintains a quote-unquote traditional Muslim marriage while struggling to simply live at a baseline.
And of course, there's all these competing values and ethics around finances while we live in a hyper-consumer society.
So I really want to dig into the Muslims' marriage and money angle with you today.
But first, please tell us a bit more about yourselves and about Ahmed Finance.
