And in turn, the stage show is an adaptation of La Boheme, an opera by Giacomo Puccini.
And the opera itself is also based on the 1851 novel Scenes de la Vie Boheme or Scenes of Bohemian Life by Henry Maguire.
Muga? Maguire? I don't know how it's pronounced.
The film itself, which has six of the eight original Broadway cast members, depicts the lives of several bohemians and their struggles with addiction, poverty, sexuality and life under the shadow of the 1980s and 1990s AIDS crisis in New York City.
In theory.
It's about their lives.
Yeah.
Like, it's not actually about the AIDS crisis.
It's about the lives of these individuals centered around the AIDS crisis.
Yeah, their sad little lives.
Yeah.
and so he was inspired by artists such as elton john the who billy joel and the composer stephen sondheim he played trumpet piano and tuba at an early age and sang in his school's choir as well as acted in various productions at university he stopped acting to focus on composing instead in the documentary no day but today the story of rent the cast and crew and the people that knew him spoke of his drive to change the face of musical theater and do something majestic He really did seem to be quite a talent and he wrote songs for Sesame Street, directed a pilot of a kids TV show called Away We Go, was part of a singing trio called Jay Glitz.
And although most people know of Rent and Tick Tick Boom, he had a huge catalogue of work that he wrote, but they didn't really go very far.
