MMLM Ep 18: Physical Activity with Dr. Julian Reed

know, it's funny because I've known you for over 10 years.

And I remember in one of our early interviews, you said, I just couldn't sit still.

I needed to move.

Tell us about that.

Yeah, I got in trouble all the time.

because i was considered hyper but they didn't use any terms like adhd it was just julian's really hyper all the time and he doesn't stop talking and he's always moving around and so i was always you know getting in trouble my my mom was just like that's just who he is and but back then this was back in the mid 70s it was just like ah his behavior what are we going to do to keep this kid on task.

And I would be sent to the principal's office occasionally.

And I actually went back to my old elementary school not long ago.

And I met the new principal, the current principal.

I'm sure there are many principals since then.

And I'm in the room and I'm like, wow, I spent a lot of time in here.

But it looked a lot bigger.

when I was in there.

But yeah, I just have always been that way.

I needed to move to learn.

And fortunately, my mom was great.

She never was, hey, you just got to sit down.

But when I was in school, traditional elementary school teachers didn't always really resonate with that.

But my mom was a big Montessori type person.

So my brother went to Montessori preschool and I did some Montessori as well.

until my brother bit a kid by accident and got us all kicked out.

But it was really into Montessori.

And so I've just always, I mean, maybe it started really that early, just the importance of moving.
