Waters of Leith Season 2 (Act 11): Lost River (part 3)

The last we saw of the three of you, you were sat in a lovely coffee shop and you were looking through maps you'd found of the National Library of Scotland showing the Loughran Burn and its story.

And its story is maybe a little bit of a sad one.

So from the map, you can see that at one point, the Meadows was a lake.

This was in around the 17th century, but it was slowly drained over a period of time in order to bring in better quality water from further away.

But the runoff was this Loughran River that ran under your feet where you are now.

And originally it exited into the water of Leith.

But eventually when the Union Canal was built, it got cut short and emptied into the Union.

And more recently, it's just sort of dried up and gone.

You have a line on a map, an old map, of buildings that are no longer there, which shows Loughran running under Hope Street, under the King's Theatre, towards where you found a small river running underground beside the Union Canal.

And you were figuring out the first action, which I believe... is going to be heading to the meadows in order to begin trying to find the source of Loughran.
