Okay, the first story that I wanted to quickly touch on, it's not, like, a full-on story, but Mikayla Nogueira, obviously, like, TikTok's biggest beauty influencer, she was on Jay Shetty, on his podcast.
It was over two hours long, and I listened to the whole thing, and I actually thought it was pretty good.
So I just wanted to give, like, my thoughts on it, essentially, is what I'm doing here.
She didn't have the accent [laughs] which she does address in the episode, and I know she's spoken about her accent here and there and says, like, it's much stronger when she's by herself, when she's with her family and friends, and then, you know, when she's in public or if she's doing a work thing or whatever, she's able to code switch, and sometimes it's not even, like, fully conscious.
Although, every single person is always like, "How have you been there for 10 years and you haven't even picked up, like, a single Australian twang?" [laughs] So I don't know, maybe I'm not the best example.
She also did say that she kind of plays it up here and there because she knows that people question her accent.
She talks about that, and she's like, "That was me, like, playing up my accent." And I think, in general, the episode was pretty good for her PR image.
I mean, I think there's gonna be a giant cohort of people that will never like her, and they will always think that she is a liar, and I know there's a lot of discussion right now about how many filters she uses and how she just, like, Facetunes herself into oblivion, and all of that kind of stuff.
Like, she's been doing a lot of public appearances for her brand, and people have been taking photos that were taken of her, like, in the wild versus her TikTok videos and being like, "Look at how different she looks" and I don't know.
But in general, like, there's always gonna be this giant [laughs] portion of her audience or of people in general on the internet who really hate her.
But the biggest thing to come out of the interview was when she spoke about her relationship with Cody, her marriage with him, and how that broke down.
And she does talk about his addiction, I would say in detail, but the detail is reserved for, like, her experience.
So she does talk about, like, specific instances when he relapsed, and she goes into detail, somewhat detail.
Like, I would say more intimate, personal detail than we would've known or probably maybe she should have shared about his relapses and his experiences and what he's been going through.
But it is always through the lens of herself as, like, the person supporting him through this, and how she was really struggling with knowing how to be married to somebody who was relapsing, in active addiction, and all of that kind of stuff.
