In this episode of the Men Need Love Too podcast, Kat Anna sits down with Dan Roth, a TEDx speaker, author and advocate for male survivors, to discuss domestic violence against men, sexual assault…
At age eight to nine, he developed eating disorder and body dysmorphia, followed by anxiety and depression.
That recap, in that episode, he spoke about how those affected his life and how it was affected his parenting.
On this week's episode, we're going to be discussing domestic violence, sexual assault, healing that trauma, and going from there.
First thing is the reason I needed to do the recap is because we talk about the history of trauma and we talk about how trauma leads to more trauma.
So when there needs to be the understanding of, okay, well he was diagnosed, he went through a bunch of shit and then got to this point.
The other thing that I want to make the listeners aware of is that the eating disorder and body dysmorphia are something I recognized in the moment.
Like I knew I had issues with these things and, As we dive into my experience with domestic violence and sexual assault, I want to be very clear that it took me almost 20 years to realize that that's what I had been through.
Whereas my healing and understanding of eating disorder, body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression is fairly far along, there are still areas in the healing process with domestic violence and sexual assault that I realize I'm still in the process of and how those have affected me long term so whereas you may have seen somewhat of a polished presentation in our last conversation even if it conveys as polished this time it's much more ever present
