Sophie GregoryHostUm, anyway, what's going on, what's going on on the farm at the moment, Soph?

Well, I took quite a lot of footage when it was really dry, and I was looking back at it, and then I went and had a drive around, and I thought, "Actually, we're gonna go grazing again." So this was at the weekend.

Um, and I have started grazing them in the day, and then at night they're still being fed flat out.

Um, but I think by the weekend we will be grazing pretty much full time with a bit of feed in the yard, which is very exciting, um, because it, we haven't been doing that since end of May.

One financially, but secondly, just adding to this time of year, which is already pretty busy with calving and, you know, we've had, um, August in, um, Denmark is pretty much shut down.

So a lot of my work that I do off-farm via Arla, it doesn't happen in August, which is great because of school holidays, et cetera, but then it just means that when we come to September, everyone wants to go at everything.
How much have you managed to reduce your feed? 'Cause you were saying like £500 a day.

No, 200 out already, and then I'll probably take another 100 out when I go out by night.

She's, she's gonna carry on till next spring because We just don't know what the rest of the season's gonna be like.

And cows are calving onto a, you know, a, a, I want them to stay on quite a consistent diet.

I don't want it to go in and out, so keeping a bit of silage in there is quite important now we've started that.

So it's just gonna be a very expensive year, but I think we'll get a couple of months out of grazing now, and then we'll go [laughs] we'll, we'll hope for a better 2027.

Um, but we, yeah, we had the, we also had the Ro- Roadmap Pathways report yesterday as well, so I've been up in London for that, which has been great.

It's been a collaboration between a lot of different, um, processes and retail and, uh, different bodies involved in the dairy sector, which h- is probably the first of its kind, which is really exciting, just to actually put a price on sustainability.

Um, so everyone sort of knows where we're heading and actually the cost to the farmer, which, uh, we just, you know, sometimes gets lost in translation when these, w- with these reports.
