Edward Morello

The Prime Minister Andy Burnham has today backed proposals for the Wessex Mayoral Strategic Authority.

The announcement came in Parliament after West Dorset MP Edward Morello asked whether the government would commit to having a Wessex mayor by 2028.

A Wessex Mayor could unlock £460 million in additional annual funding and generate as much as £16 billion of additional economic output over the next 30 years.

So my question to the Prime Minister is will he commit to a Mayor of Wessex by 2028?

The minister said the government was holding the companies to account, and they were now fixing more leaks than ever before.

But another Lib Dem, Edward Morello, complained that South West Water, which supplied his constituents in West Dorset, lost the equivalent of a hundred liters per customer every day last year.

And yet since 2013, South West Water has received 40 million a year from central government, while more than 1.5 billion pounds has been paid out into shareholders in dividends.

And what have my customers and my residents got? Higher bills and sewage.
