This has been both a 250 and now a 500. since 2015. past champs include yannick center last year who'd be alex vera in 2024 jack draper beat hair nachana if yannick center won in 2023 beating daniel medvedev in three sets medvedev won the year before that beating the chapel vol of we go back a few years steve we have headliners winning this event so a lot of prestige for this one i feel There hasn't been a repeat champ since Andy Murray in 2016, so a lot of turnover holding the trophy as well.
Conditions on paper, Vienna slower on the two sides, but we should be plenty quick still.
Yeah, I think
is obviously...
I mean, to me, this...
There's some interesting components with, you know, draws like the Vienna one where, you know, it's led by someone such as Azarev who, you know, is build number one and that can't be taken away from him now for the rest of the year.
So you've got these kind of 500s that... know when it's all said and done we're not going to kind of go back and go oh balls are everyone vienna so it's not that kind of you know hang your hat type tournament as compared to some of the bigger ones but i think it becomes an interesting story of you know there's opportunity here for a lot of players to be able to, if they've had a bad year, you know, maybe they can come into this a little bit fresher.
You know, as you said, it's a long year, the tennis season, and maybe losing for some periods of the time can actually lead to, you know, having a little bit more energy late in the year to be able to take advantage of some spots in draws.
Obviously we saw, you know, we've seen that a couple of times in recent weeks with Davidovic Fikina and Greg Spohr as an example of, you know, guys that, you look at the majority of these draws and you think they're probably not going to get maybe even to the final four, let alone win them.
So I think when I look at these kind of draws, I just think there's opportunity for people if they want to take advantage of it.
But also at the same time, there's other players who are probably seeing this as a... one of the very last stops before they can have some time off.
