There's one version of ourselves that other people know.
So our family, they know this version of ourselves.
Our friends, they know a version of ourselves.
Our coworkers, our boss, anyone we interact with, they have an idea of who you are, who I am.
This is one version of ourselves.
There is another version of ourselves that not many people know about, if any.
A version that we don't really like to show people.
A secret version of ourselves.
How you and I behave and think, those certain things that we don't want to reveal.
They said, O Prophet of Allah, there are certain times thoughts come to our mind such that we would rather be burnt alive than express those thoughts.
So sometimes in our mind there are certain thoughts that come, certain things we do or say or feel, and we don't want anyone else to know.
This is another version of ourselves.
We know this version of ourselves and Allah knows this version of ourselves.
How you and I are in solitude.
And that is very important, a very important aspect of ourselves.
It allows us to understand by observing that version of ourselves, how close or far we are to the deen and how close or far we are from Allah .
That version will let you know.
Not the version that everyone else sees.
Because we act, usually.
We are displaying.
We are putting up a front.
And we do this because we have shame.
We have this quality that prevents us from destroying our image in front of other individuals.
So Allah knows that aspect of ourselves, and He knows the apparent as well.
