Al-Alaq

Now I'm not saying that obviously chronologically the way the Quran was revealed was not in this order.

Surah al-Alaq came first, or rather some of the ayat of Surah al-Alaq, and then probably Surah al-Muzammil or something.

But the point being, that the final version of the Quran, which we have, the sequence of the surahs, the way, the tarteeb of the surahs, which is first, which is second, so on.

This is also from Allah Ta'ala.

It takes intention.

So being able to do that, though, can give us so much that we probably don't even realise time that we're sitting there reflecting or what have you and in Surah Al-Alaq, Surah 96 verses 1 to 5 we hear of the very first revelation that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad where he is commanded to read and when we think of that word read sometimes we might just think okay just to read the Quran or just to read you know Read can come in so many different forms as well.

Read people.

Read the room.

surah revealed says read.

Surah 96 says read, study.

They don't do it.

So it's easy for an imam to mislead them.

So is, I am aware that Allah is watching me, and I am observing Allah with my consciousness, with my heart.

Allah in the very first Surah that was revealed, Surah Al-Alaq, Allah says in that Surah, Doesn't the individual know that Allah watches? Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, here, He doesn't say that Allah watches.

Quran, Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, says that He watches.

And Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, is Sameer and Basir.

Can you imagine the might of even one of these angels in charge of hell? Just one of them alone, what might they have? And so Allah commands in the following verse, never obey him, O Prophet, rather continue to prostrate and draw near to Allah.

This is Surah 96.

And so Abu Jahl saw the Prophet Muhammad was stubborn in front of him.

He was defiant.

Tasliman kathiran kathiran.

And after that, my brothers and sisters, alhamdulillah, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned the prayer of tahajjud in several places in the Qur'an, in Surah al-Isra, in Surah al-Sajdah, and most of all in Surah al-Muzzamil, which is One of the first surahs to be revealed immediately after the opening ayat of Surah Al-Iqra, the Next surah, there is some difference of opinion whether it was Muzzammil or Muddassir, but most likely it was Muzzammil, where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned the Salah of Tahajjud in detail and commanded Rasulullah to wake up and stand in this Salah, which is Salah Tahajjud.

Allah says, يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّ الْقُومِ اللَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا Stand for the whole night except for a little bit.

نِسْفَهُ أَوِنْقُسْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا أَوْزِدَ عَلَيْهِ For half the night, three quarters of the night, something more, something less.

The first guidance given by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala in the glorious Quran, it was not to offer salah, it was not to give zakah, it was not to fast in the month of Ramadan, it was not to perform hajj, but it was iqra.

As Allah says in the glorious Quran in Surah Al-Alaq, chapter number 96, verse number 1, Read, recite, proclaim in the name of thy Lord who has created you.

So the first guidance given by Allah , it was to read.

Unfortunately, the Muslim Ummah, it can be divided into three categories.
