Welcome back to Making the Stan. This week, we're diving into Danity Kane's debut, self-titled album. From lead single Show Stopper to underrated bop Heartbreaker, what will be the standouts? Will…
[upbeat music] So as we watched in Making the Band 3, Danity Kane recorded their debut album over the course of five weeks.
Mm-hmm.
That's what they said on the show.
That is what they said.
That was a bold-faced lie.
Oh my God, how, how long did it take?
They actually recorded it from February to May of 2006, so that is about two, three months.
That's interesting.
And even if it's the end of February to the beginning of May, that's still two months.
Mm-hmm.
So they lied to us.
Okay.
They recorded the vast majority of the album in Miami at the Hit Factory.
A song that was recorded that we will talk about next week-
Mm-hmm
...
I Wish, was a unreleased song that the band had worked on but was officially released digitally in February of 2021.
That song also, in my opinion, is God fucking awful.
[laughs] That's the reason why it's not on the album.
Another, uh, little tidbit about this album is that in May of 2023, Aubrey disclosed that several songs that they had recorded were left unused and instead re-recorded with other artists for Diddy's fourth album, Press Play.
Oh, my.
So these songs include Come To Me with Nicole Scherzinger, Tell Me featuring Christina Aguilera, and After Love featuring Keri Hilson.
Have you heard any of these songs?
No.
