I feel like I don't have the typical story of a food brand entrepreneur, but I guess everyone's story is a little unique.

A lot of my childhood and teenage years were not focused on food at all, even though I loved eating out.

And that led to working in licensing for a famous Japanese artist named Takashi Murakami.

He was doing a retrospective from L.A. MoCA to Brooklyn Museum to the Guggenheim and Bilbao.

My favorite parts of that job had nothing to do with meeting the celebrities or like being in that sort of glamorous environment.

But I loved taking care of people, like always the liaison sort of coordinating things.

And I would have to accompany people to really great places in Japan, elsewhere, and I would have to plan out outings.

And that was my first foray into sort of like hospitality on a professional level.

My parents, having been restaurant owners, we would take care of our staff all the time.
