AREA SPORTS ROUNDUP

Hey, welcome back.

It is the Tiger coaches show, as we feature Hutchinson Tiger girls' tennis, and, uh, we talk with the head coach, uh, Todd Card, of the, uh, tennis team.

Good morning, sir.

Good morning.

And, uh, for you guys, uh, y- up in the...

As far as the team season, s- I know you still have some individual stuff, which we'll get to, uh, later on here, but as far as the team stuff, that has been completed here.

So kind of up and down season.

Uh, overall, what were your thoughts on, uh, the year for the Tigers?

Well, I, I think we had a, a great season overall.

Um, there was, uh, a lot of close matches, um, that we didn't quite pull out, but a lot of, uh, really nice matches.

Uh, couple highlights is that, uh, we went undefeated at home, so those are the fans that were able to get out there and, uh, support the team, got to see us, uh, win at home.

Uh, we struggled a little bit more, uh, on the road, but we did end up over 500, uh, which is a big step, especially with, uh, uh, the strength of our schedule.

Our conference and section opponents, uh, you know, uh, very legitimate, uh, programs in that, uh, both conference and section, and, you know, a lot of fun, competitive matches throughout.

So, you know, a matter of staying healthy and, and playing well throughout and, you know, trying to improve as we go and, and I think, uh, we showed signs of that, uh, throughout the season.

Now, this week, y- you had section to start off, uh, early or much earlier this week on Tuesday.

Nice opening round win there.

Give us a recap on how that one went.

Yeah.

Before I do it, I'm ready.

I'd just like to give a shout-out to all the girls that showed up.

Uh, you know, and, uh, we're 32, uh, kids, 9 through 12.

We have a nice freshman group that came in and fit in real well with everybody, uh, you know, and our sophomore-junior group, which is our biggest numbers that, uh, kinda support and, you know, uh, fill in, uh, a lot of those spots and, you know, then we had, uh, four seniors and one who just came out for the very first, uh, time, uh, this year.

But just a great overall group to work with and, um, you know, I just give a shout-out to them.

Our match with Worthington, um, you know, this is a team that, uh, we did see last year when we went to Marshall, but a team that we don't play very often just because of the distance.

Uh, they made the trek up in their, you know, uh, charter bus and, you know, came out ready to play and, uh, but we were just, uh, you know, um... at every point we were just a little bit better.
