In this episode of *Macon It*, we welcome back Stephen Adams, Executive Director of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, to pull back the curtain on one of the organizations shaping Macon's future. Stephen explains what the Industrial Authority actually does; from recruiting major industries and supporting the expansion of existing businesses to helping create the high-quality jobs that drive our local economy. We also discuss how the Industrial Authority works alongside schools, local governments, and community partners to prepare the next generation of workers. That includes the newly launched Advanced Manufacturing Pathway, an innovative program connecting students with hands-on training and career opportunities in one of the region's fastest-growing industries. Whether you've wondered how a company decides to locate in Macon or how today's students are preparing for tomorrow's careers, this episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people and partnerships helping build Macon-Bibb's future.

500 Hubs and Community Updates1:46 – 6:11

E

1:46

So we recently...

E

1:48

I was looking at this Hub newsletter from last week.

E

1:52

We hit 500 hubs, guys.

Olivia WalterHost

1:53

Yes, we did.

Olivia WalterHost

1:54

Wait, wait, wait.

E

1:55

500.

Olivia WalterHost

1:55

[cheering]

E

1:59

That is so wonderful.

E

2:01

Huge news.

E

2:01

How many times can I say wonderful in this episode? Count.

Olivia WalterHost

2:05

Maybe we could hit 500 times.

E

2:07

500 times.

Olivia WalterHost

2:08

[laughs]

E

2:08

Uh, yeah, no. It's just been so great to see how the Hub has shifted, and it started off with Chris Flohr's idea.

E

2:17

Shout out to Chris- [laughs] ... for getting the Hub started as a weekly newsletter.

E

2:22

He essentially was like, "You know, we're sending all these press releases out to media, but how is our community getting them?" So he initially started it with, like, putting all of the press releases in just one email and then sending it out to people.

E

2:37

And then that has shifted into, like, more storytelling and featuring a bunch of different things, what...

E

2:42

You know, now with, like, Social Snapshot, like, featuring things that we have shared online, and then community flyers and all that stuff.

E

2:50

So it has been happening for about 10 years now, which is-

Olivia WalterHost

2:54

Whoa

E

2:54

...

E

2:54

so crazy.

Olivia WalterHost

2:55

Yeah.

E

2:56

I wasn't here for...

E

2:57

You know, I've been here for half of it actually, though.
