Australia EV Sales Sep 2026: 24.2% | Electric Vehicles outsell petrol, diesel cars

Uh, let's have a look at the brands, top brands for Australia in, uh, To- September 2026.

As we said, Toyota number one, and by quite a margin as well.

Uh, interesting to see some legacy brands declining year on year, though.

So Toyota is down 3.5%, whereas BYD, number two, uh, over 8,000 sales in September, up 61% year on year, uh, which is pretty good to see.

Uh, Ford number three, Kia number four, Mazda, uh, number five, and Tesla number six, GWM number seven, Hyundai number eight, MG number nine, Geely number 10, and Chery number 11.

So you can see in the top 11 brands, I would say six of them primarily sell battery electric vehicles.

Six, or maybe less.

Let's, let's see.

BYD, Tesla, uh, uh, MG, Geely-

I wouldn't count MG

...

Okay.

Geely, Chery.

Yeah.

Okay, so let's-

Mm, wouldn't count Chery.

[laughs]

All right.

So maybe Geely, Tesla, BYD.

Yep.

Interestingly, Omoda Jaecoo, which is a Chery brand, is listed completely separately.

That's true, isn't it?

Yeah.

So if you top- top 15, you can count Omoda Jaecoo, then.

Mm.
