June Book Club: The Summer We Ran by Audrey Ingram 📚

Our first flop of the book club.

I don't know.

Where are we going here? The summer we ran was this month's book, Lucky Girls Book Club.

For those of you who are just coming into the fray, it was a virtual book club I created because I wanted to hold myself accountable to reading 12 books this year.

And man, we have hit it out of the park.

But the summer we ran kind of just fell flat for me.

We wrapped up our group discussion last night.

We had so much fun.

i would call it our most lively discussion yet we laughed so hard we were crying at one point on the panel but i think across the board people felt felt a little flat felt a little underdeveloped i felt like the characters were not well-rounded i mean tess murphy and grant alexander are probably two of the most dud book characters i've ever met in my life So if you're new here, let's go through a little synopsis.

The summer we ran has two timelines.

We're in 1996 and then we're in 2021.

So let's call it the 90s and present day.

We are going back and forth, back and forth.

And we're talking about a couple.

So when they're teenagers, they're a couple.

And then they have a tumultuous ending to their relationship and then time travel to present day.

And they're running against each other for governor.

They're running against each other for governor.

So Tess has become a pretty successful businesswoman.

Grant, all these years later, has done well for himself as well.

And they are reunited under this extraordinary circumstance.

There is a lot at play here.

It explores, oh God, it explores first love.

Can it survive decades apart? It survives.
