Wendy RayGuestIt says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." Friends of mine today, grief is something we all experience.
It's a part of what I call...
It's, it's a part of the human experience.
Losing someone we love, whether it's all of a sudden or whether it's expected, it creates a void.
It creates a gap in our lives that's impossible to fill.
In those moments, we often find ourselves searching for comfort, we find ourselves searching for answers, and we're searching for a sense of peace.
So the question is, where do we turn for these answers? The world has many suggestions.
Some suggest rituals for closer- closure.
Some find comfort in memories.
And others even seek to communicate with their loved ones after they have already died.
Psalms 34 and verse 18 tells us, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." Now David, the writer of this psalm, he really knew about grief.
He penned these words while on the run from King Saul, as you remember, feeling alone and isolated.
But here is the truth that David shares.
Here it is.
It paints a vivid picture of deep emotional pain.
But here's the good news.
Oh, no.
He comes close to us.
He actively rescues and supports us.
