replaces persuasion.

Paul made an extraordinary statement to the Corinthian church in 2 Corinthians 1, verse number 24.

Listen to what he said.

He said, not for that we have dominion over your faith.

Let me say they're in the same vein, but just a little bit different perspective of the same topic this morning.

2 Corinthians 1, and I'm going to pick up in verse 5 and read down to verse 11.

2 Corinthians 1, verse 5 through verse 11.

So the Bible says, For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

And whether we be afflicted is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings, which we also suffer.

It's Christ in you that they're persecuting.

You have to remember that.

So we go back to 2 Corinthians 1, and we recognize these are the sufferings of Christ.

But the Apostle Paul saw it differently.

Here's 2 Corinthians 1, verse 11.

And you are helping us by praying for us.

Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety.

That's why repentance is necessary.

Second Corinthians 1 verse 14, as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just like we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5 verse 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night 2 Thessalonians 2 verse 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us whether by prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter asserting that the day of the Lord has already come and it goes on to further say that day has not come yet and And there's probably another, I'll read 2 Peter 3, 10.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.
