So, I mean, when I talk about a speak-up culture, I think a definition can be in order.

So for me, a speak-up culture is an environment in which people feel that it's both safe and worth it to say the thing.

to share what they see, what they feel, what they know, what they don't know, right? Inside of a speak-up culture, we can share ideas, even if they're half-baked.

We can give one another feedback, and the purpose of feedback is to help one another grow.

We can share concerns, sort of the proverbial smoke before it becomes fire.

I think one of sort of the myths around psychological safety in a speak-up culture is that, oh, it's just everyone getting along, and a culture passive of nice, like, no, no, no.

wouldn't be a level of trust there if you feel, if everyone's always agreeing.

as productive? You know, you and I can disagree on something, but we use it as productive tension.
