Before we dive into this topic, Shed, can you just tell us a little bit about yourself and how you found yourself here today with us? Yeah.
1:35
So I've, since a young age, been fascinated by a couple of things.
1:39
So one, I grew up with a stutter.
1:41
So I'm really interested in what either gives us the confidence to use our voice or what makes us rather choose silence over using our voice.
1:50
So that's one.
1:51
And I'm a big believer that our purpose often lives in what have we had to overcome and can we help others overcome? So, A, I married a speech therapist, which is just a great joke for my kids and nephews because it is hereditary.
2:05
But it's also just...
5:25
That's so true.
3:21
I'm curious, in your life, as you lead or advise others and teach, has there been a similar crucible moment in your life that said, you know what, this is the right path for me?
3:34
I didn't really have a clear... vision of the career I wanted.
3:41
I knew I didn't want to do more school.
3:45
I've always sort of been entrepreneurial, intrapreneurial.
3:50
which means that I can be a bit of a tricky employee.
3:54
Like it takes a really good situation and a nice match with a leader who gives me quite a bit of autonomy for me to thrive.
4:02
Otherwise, I just get frustrated by bureaucracy and boxes and all those things.

What do you advise them to do?
29:16
That's, I mean, any kind of a layoff situation is a very heavy situation to walk into.
29:21
For sure, but it, it, it also helped me see, you know, a few months in, I was like, "This is not the place for me," both at this moment as well as whether it's bureaucracy or whatever, I just, I couldn't see a future there.
29:37
I had felt like I w- I had a ladder in front of me that I did not wish, wish to climb.
29:41
I remember sitting in my cubicle.
29:44
This was probab- I started in September of 2009, so this would've been right after the Christmas break, so took some time off with, with family over, over, over Christmas.
29:56
Came back in January, and I began to...
29:59
I remember there was a post from a friend of mine on LinkedIn.

So good.
