I want to be like Jesus

As you grew up, did your parents ever ask you this question: "Do you want to be like Jesus?" If not, you could ask yourself today this question: Do I want to be like Jesus? And if you have children at home, make it a point to ask them every day, "Do you want to be like Jesus?" Because the amazing truth is that God created you nothing less than that.

Listen to me carefully.

God created you nothing less than that.

God created you to be like His Son, Jesus.

From the very beginning of time, God's plan was just the same, that you and I will be like His Son, Jesus.

That is your destiny.

That is your identity.

God announced this even at the beginning of creation in Genesis one twenty-six.

God said, "Let us make man in our image and likeness." And you and I have never seen God.

A few weeks back, we discussed about it.

How can we see God? Can we see God? Will we ever see God? And then we came to this understanding we can see God in Jesus Christ.

And so God revealed himself to us in the face of Jesus Christ.

The fullness of God, listen carefully, not partially, not a part of God was in Jesus.

The fullness of God was in Jesus.

The entirety of God was in Jesus.

And so you and I have an example to look at and say, "I wanna be like Jesus." But you know what happened? That image of God that God created us to be like, it got distorted.

It got marred.

That's the word we use, distorted.

Why? What do you mean by distorted? Something that's not very clear, something that's lost its, uh, accuracy, clarity, something like that.

A distorted image.

Have you heard that word? Distorted image.

You take a picture with your phone, but when you take that picture, you shake your phone and take a picture, what kind of an image do you get? A distorted image, not a clear image.

And that's exactly what happened with us.

A distorted image happened, you know, uh, uh, uh, with us.

We have the image of God, the likeness of God, distorted.
