Came out yesterday that ESPN may have an issue in their number one A booth between Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
Yes, it's true that Troy Aikman is disappointed that he has not gotten a contract yet, as anyone would be when they are coming to the end of a contract that pays a tremendous amount of money in a job you've been doing for a large number of years, and you don't want to wait.
You want to get it done so you can have the security of knowing that what you've been doing you can keep doing if, in fact, that is what you want to do.
Are you... willing to believe that Troy Aikman is jealous of Joe Buck getting his contract extension when Troy did not and that would cause them to have an argument in the booth before broadcast as is being reported by Front Office Sports.
I would love to understand what you think that argument would be because I've got another thing to mention.
How many of you have had a partner for 25 years, a spouse, a significant other, a friend? No arguments? No sick of each other? No, my God, I'm so tired of your burping, farting, and smelling, I can't stand the look of you.
My God, can't we be in a different room? I am not watching any more of the crap that you wanna watch, I'm done with it.
Have we not ever understood the reality of how hard it is to have long-term partnerships on air, off air, anywhere? How unique it is when there can be people who work arm in arm or live arm in arm forever? You think that everybody is in the notebook and they die holding hands on a gurney in a nursing home? The majority of people are War of the Roses and they die trying to kill each other.
The reason why partnerships come to an end is that all good things come to an end.
What, you think me and Coca are all daisies, roses, and butterflies? The guy wants to murder me half the time, can't stand the sound of my voice a quarter of the time, and when he sees my name on his phone, texting or calling, rolls his eyes and says, I can't believe I gotta deal with this yutz again.
But you know what? We love each other.
I am not going to allow a big deal to be made about the Joe Buck, Troy Aikman argument.
I'm just not gonna do it because there are broadcast partners who hate each other.
There are people who work together in business who get along outside of the business.
