Kia ora, I'm Paul Sinclair, co-founder of Oni from NZ, and welcome to Kiwi Fleas, where every fortnight I catch up with one of the million or so Kiwis who've exported themselves from Aotearoa, New Zealand.

I love hearing how they're helping shape the world's opinion of us, one unique international New Zealander story at a time.

Today's Kiwi Flea left New Zealand in 2012 and joins me from the United Arab Emirates.

He spent almost eight years helping shape some of Abu Dhabi's major leisure, entertainment and tourism assets across Yas Island and Sadiat Island, home to Ferrari World, Warner Brothers and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and soon to see a Disney and Guggenheim added to the mix.

Today, though, he is the CEO of the UAE's most successful football club, Al Ain FC, a club whose recent season began with participation in the FIFA Club World Cup against the likes of Manchester City and Juventus and ended with Al Ain becoming the first ever invincible UAE Pro League champions while also winning the UAE FA Cup.

For a Kiwi who grew up waking at 3 a.m. to watch Barcelona from the other side of the world, this is by any measure a decent commute from the couch.
