The Current Situation: Episode 6

But let's start with some international talk.

U.S. Women's National Team, like you said, you're globe hopping with them right now, at least hopping around the United States.

It was a surprise, at least on the scoreboard, US losing to Spain on Saturday.

Hearing some comments after the game, I think there were thoughts that maybe the US played better, but Spain was more efficient in terms of finishing their chances.

Is that your take or what did you take away from that match?

Yeah, I mean, it was wild.

First and foremost, you have FIFA number one against FIFA number two.

So you have to start strong.

And the United States just didn't do that.

And Spain absolutely did.

It only took them three minutes to get on the board.

And you're exactly right, Dave.

Spain took three shots on goal the entire game and two of them they converted.

So the United States had 10 shots on goal.

None were converted, including missing a penalty.

So it was a tough match for the United States.

They did not walk away, I think, with the result that they deserved.

The second half came around, and the United States women were all over that pitch.

They were commanding the rhythm, commanding possession, creating so many big chances.

And after the match, Emma Hayes, obviously head coach for the US Women's National Team, said US was the team that created more chances.

Spain was the team that was more efficient.

So it just got down to who was able to convert their chances.

And although Spain was held to only three, they converted two of them and they won the match.

It's going to be really interesting to see what they do Tuesday.

It was very cool to see Michelle Cooper in action in the right back position, which current fans have seen her play just one time against Bay FC, but she did great.
