The Rumore Report: The anniversary of the Bartman game

I love this day in history.

And even though one particular event I don't ever want to talk about again, but it is the anniversary.

I think you know which one I'm talking about.

It's the Bartman game anniversary, isn't it?

It is today.

I mean, I even feel bad saying this poor guy's name over and over again.

But it's the only way to let everybody know, like, oh, yeah, that game.

That game.

And we should have never treated him like that.

And I think people recognize that in the time, but it still was a frenzy.

And I do think that

it's easier to talk about now since they won in 2016.

Obviously, we're talking about the Moises Alou going on the left field line, one out in the eighth inning, Cubs up 3-0, game six at the NLCS.

I do not have to read your story to recant that entire thing.

Alex Gonzalez bobbles the double play ball, which would have ended the inning.

Yep.

Marlins score eight runs, they win 8-3, they win the next night 9-6, and the Cubs don't mow, go to the World Series, Florida Marlins win the World Series.

Anyways, I think that a lot of fans quickly realized we treated him poorly, and certainly after 2016.

And also, what a class act he ended up being, Corey.

He could have written a book and never even talked to anyone, right? Yeah.

Right.

I mean, he could have profited off of this as much as he wanted to.

And that was not his style at all.

He came out of this whole thing extremely classy, giving, yeah, how terrible people had treated him.

But you're right, though, John, it is interesting how over the years people now have a completely different view of him.
