We start in the south of Johannesburg where protesters have dispersed from the N12 highway.
Public order policing units from SAPS and JMPD are currently in the final stages of securing and safely reopening the N12 in both directions between K43 and Abubaka Asfa Drive.

Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson Kalani Vegla says the situation does remain tense.

Officers will stay deployed on the ground to monitor the perimeter, prevent any re-ignition of protest activity and facilitate the safe movement of vehicles.

The decision follows developments in ongoing litigation concerning the Station Square premises.

The City of Tswane says in a statement, given these developments, a number of services will be temporarily unavailable at Station Square, including motor vehicle registration and licensing.

In the east of Twane, Deputy President Paul Mashatile is expected to visit Bronco Sprite this morning, where more than 600 people contracted a gastrointestinal illness since the beginning of the month.

Preliminary investigations linked the illness to the Bronco Sprite water purification plant.

The Presidency says in a statement that Mashhadila will visit Bronco Sprat as part of the work of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Water and Sanitation, which he chairs.

He will assess the situation at the water treatment works, receive an update on the condition of the water treatment infrastructure and engage with relevant authorities on measures being implemented to restore the safety and reliability of the water supply.

Mashadile is also expected to visit patients still receiving treatment in hospital.

It was confirmed last week that more than 200 of the patients are toddlers of four years and younger.

Yesterday, President Sol Ramaphosa said government is intervening in the city of Tawane and other municipalities.

With nine days until we vote in the local government elections, access to reliable water is on everybody's lips.

The president said the National Water Crisis Committee is stepping up to help municipalities and provinces.
A lot of initiatives are underway, both with regard to dealing with bulk water availability, as well as the reticulation of water.
