Childhood Cancer, Recovery and Exercise

Hello and welcome to the latest episode of the Irish Sport and Exercise Science Association podcast.

I'm your host Bruce Wardrop and today we have taken the podcast on the road.

I am definitely a little bit out of my comfort zone using new equipment and in a new location but if you're listening to this then I guess everything worked out okay.

I'm currently set up to record in the kitchen of a house in Navan, far from the familiarity of my home office.

This house is the home of Cillian Maguire and his family, who have very graciously agreed to speak to me about their involvement in a research trial being run by Jenny Fitzpatrick, who is a PhD student in TUS Athlone.

We also have Cillian's mum, Tracey-Ann, joining us too.

So, Cillian, Tracey-Ann and Jenny, you're very welcome to the podcast.

Thank you very much.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thanks a million for welcoming me into your home today.

Cillian, you're not long in from school, I think, today, is that right?

Yeah,

an hour in.

An hour in.

So do you finish early on a Wednesday? Yeah, half day.

And what, this week has been a bit casual now.

Where were you on Monday? Got the day off.

You got the day off and what did you do? I went to Taito Park.

Taito Park.

Was it good fun? Yeah, it was good, yeah.

I think you mentioned that you might be heading back there again soon.

Is that right? Yeah, on Thursday with school.

So you've had a trial run with your dad and now you're going back with the school.

So you're going to be the leader bringing everyone around.
