It's an occasion for us to reflect and pray about the virtue of poverty, detachment.

It's our Lord's answer to Saint John's disciples who asked the Lord if he is the one who is to come, or if they are to wait for another.

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have the good news preached to them.

Our Lord includes poverty and the poor among the great wonders that his coming brings to the world.

But for us to be poor, to be among those who receive the wonders of God, it means in some way we have to be detached from earthly possessions And it means we have to reflect on this.
