In Their Words - Jarrad Donders

Anyway, now at the top of the show, we talked about success, and you've had some standout success recently with the Coach Talent League as well as the Under-18s Girls National Champs as the head coach winning both those championships and premierships.

What's the secret to success, Jared?

Yeah, well, you've got to be very process driven.

And I think you guys, or you girls, sorry, hear that a lot.

But when you get your systems right, your foundations right, your processes right, the results take care of themselves.

So when you come from that really process driven mindset.

That's essentially the start of it, right? And sustained success comes from that as well.

You'll always be striving to get better.

And I mentioned a quote today that the greatest success is always under construction, no matter whether you're the best in the competition or you're starting at the bottom.

So, yeah, I think success itself and the clues that you get from it really starts from that foundation.

And this process you mentioned, like, do you learn from others or do you see things or do you create them yourselves in your own mind? Like, how do you create process? for a team? Well,

you've got to have strong systems and structures in place.

And I think with my time in a leadership capacity at an education level and then head coaching across multiple different programs and clubs, yeah, you pick up lots of different things off great people, but you also start to develop your own way and philosophies.

which you find work or don't work, and then you can pick and choose.

And ultimately learning in a role like this, you have a great understanding of what has worked and hasn't and what is going to help be successful and what's not.

And what type of learner are you, mate? Do you like visual learning? Do you like to write things down or another sort of form?

I'm definitely a visual learner.

I think as you get older, you do a lot more listening.

So, yeah, tapping into podcasts.

I do read a fair bit now.

But I am starting to lean towards audio books as well, particularly with the drive or the amount of driving that I do.

But yeah, ultimately a visual learner is how I learn best.

And I think, you know, that caters for the PE teacher and our PE students as well.

So yeah, I would say, yeah, preference, visual.

And you've had, with this wonderful success recently in the talent pathways, you've had the first-hand experience with this young talent coming through, both boys and girls, mind you.
