If you’ve ever felt like school doesn’t fully fit your child, this episode will expand how you think about what’s possible. MacKenzie Price is reimagining education, asking what we’re really preparing…
We are actually rolling out, and by the time this podcast is out, you will be able to go to alpha.school, and there is a community portal basically that if you say, "Hey, I want an Alpha in my community," you'll either go in and see, oh, they already have one, and that's great, or they don't have one yet, but I get to go meet other families in my city who are interested, and basically organize to say, "Hey, let's go." The challenge we've been having, again, it's a wonderful challenge, which is we've had so much interest, that it's kind of been like, well, how do I pick which city we go to next? And now what we're gonna do is that community site is going to allow families to say, "Hey, Alpha, we've got, you know, 50 families that are ready to go, and if we don't already have real estate, here's recommendations for where we should be." So we're seeing families self-organize.
It redefines what parents kind of expect from their kids' private school experience.
But one of the goals that I have, if we're gonna impact millions, we've gotta make this education model more accessible.
And so in Texas, we have rolled out a program where our students, or where students who are interested in, in using our academic platform get access to it for no cost.
And so we are gonna be serving a bunch of families starting this fall that have incomes less than $65,000 a year, and those kids are gonna get the same academic experience that our Alpha students are getting, and then the ability to plug into some local resources around sports and things like that.
And so if you're in Texas, there are even more opportunities to plug into our ecosystem.
