Abuga The Gr8 on Building Full Court Press 254 & The Rise of Kenyan Basketball Media | Ep. 38

We are back with Episode 38 of the I Really Hoop Podcast, and today we’re joined by one of the most influential voices in Kenyan basketball media: Abuga The Gr8, founder of Full Court Press 254 ! Abuga takes us back to the game that started it all—a legendary matchup between Nairobi City Thunder and KPA that inspired his very first viral video . We dive deep into the art of basketball storytelling, why the culture of celebrating local hoopers needed to be revived, and the rise of the Kenyan basketball creator scene . The conversation gets real as we tackle the controversies in sports media . Should critical creators like "Nderitu" be banned from games, or is free speech essential for the growth of the sport ? Abuga also shares his grand vision for the Battle King 1v1 Tournament and why taking scouting to the grassroots, outside of Nairobi, is the only way to build a sustainable pipeline of basketball talent in Kenya . Plus, we break down the 2026 KNBL Playoff predictions, discuss Nairobi City Thunder’s transition into a fully professional franchise, debate whether Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the true GOAT, and celebrate Madina Okot’s historic run as the undisputed GOAT of Kenyan women's basketball !
