Fashion designer, entrepreneur, and WeWoreWhat founder Danielle Bernstein sits down with Maggie Sellers Reum on *Hot Smart Rich* for an unfiltered conversation on taking back her life both personally…
Maggie Sellers ReumHostDo you feel like it brought you closer to the WeWoreWhat community, or did it feel like there was this separation between you for a period of time?
My breakups in the past I did feel like brought me a lot closer to my community.
There was a lot of rumors that circulated the internet that really upset me, and I felt like I had, like, kinda done it to myself.
Like, I let people in so far, I opened the door, and when they walked too far into it, I got upset about it.
And so I decided from that moment on that I actually don't want people to really know that much about my personal life.
I want to create a healthier boundary between what I show publicly and what I have privately, and I think that my life since then has just had so much more meaning to it, that, like, my private moments are just mine.
And I love talking about it still, and, like, there's so much I wish I could just still share, and it's actually something I have to teach myself, like how to have that discipline and how to sit back.
I feel like it's discipline, and it, and it's teaching me a lot along the way, and I'm still learning.
But it's just been a really healthy, like, new dynamic to have in my life.
Do you feel like having that community has been helpful navigating things like this, or has it at times made you make different decisions that you probably wouldn't have made?
Really, like, a lot of support, especially through, like, sharing about my egg freezing and, and sh- and sharing about breakups and engagement.
I was so excited to share my, like, bridal era with everybody, and the support I felt around that was so beautiful.
And then at the same time, it's, there's been a lot of, you know, there's j- a lot of chatter, a lot of opinions that get created, and sometimes that can, a- affect your decision-making.
And I cannot sit here today and say that the outside noise never affected my decision-making.
Like, would I have left sooner? Would I have, you know, done XYZ, like, if I didn't have the public and all the opinions and the outside noise? Like, I don't know.
