Oh, let's go.

Guys, I need to take a drink already.

We're ready to go.

There's a lot going on.

All right, so we're gonna read the Word tonight.

We're gonna read from 1 Samuel, if you've got your Bibles, 1 Samuel 16.

And we're gonna talk about the story of David tonight amongst other things.

And one of the things here is we're gonna read about his first anointing, the moment that he was marked by the Holy Spirit.

So 1 Samuel 16 verse 10.

In this moment, we know that Samuel or Saul, who is the king of Israel, has disobeyed God and God has removed his favour from him.

And God says to Samuel, the prophet at the time, go and anoint the one of my choosing.

So Samuel goes to the place of the house of Jesse and is looking for the one that God has marked, the one that God has chosen to be king over Israel.

And we can pick up the story in verse 10.

It should be on the screens in a second.

Okay, verse 10.

It said, This is the one.

So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.

Samuel then went on his way.

That's a nice way to end.

From that moment on, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David.
