Tomfooleries aside, exciting news.
Keels got published.
She had a short story published in a book called The Scary Tapes.
So if you are a fan of Distractible podcast, you've probably heard plenty about this at this point.
But the general rundown is Markiplier, Bob Myskins, and Dr. Amanda Myskins, Bob's wife, have put together a nonprofit called Real Good AI.
Their mission is to create ethical AI technology that does not take advantage of creatives, doesn't negatively affect the environment, and can be properly maintained, investigated, utilized, et cetera.
So no more of that, "We don't know how to fix the AI, so it's gonna make nude images of random women for a while." The whole point of this is to actually make what they've been promising to make, but lying through their teeth about.
Yes.
Think of spellcheck.
Think of, like, uh-
...
We're not going to call any of that bad AI, though people will definitely try to trick you into thinking that that's what people are mad about.
Right.
I'm not mad at auto subtitles-
Yeah
It serves a function.
I have, uh, other issues with YouTube, but not with the fact that they're auto subtitling.
Do I have an issue that they updated some of their auto subtitling and decided we're gonna do auto dubbing as well? Yes, that I'm not a fan of, but the basics that we've been using this whole time, spellcheck, subtitling, et cetera, they're saying, "What if we piggyback off of that and make more actual useful tools that do not need to drain a lake for them to work?" So to raise money and awareness of their mission, they put together an anthology of horror stories involving AI from 15 real authors and their real brains.
No generative shit used anywhere, just a spellcheck or two at most.
