Do you ever feel guilty asking God to bless you? When you look at all the hardship in the world, it is easy to feel self-centred for wanting God's favour in your own life.If you are a young adult…

So last week, I asked the question, who believes that you are a prospect to be blessed? And we looked at an Old Testament prayer that was very familiar to us from Jabez in the book of Chronicles.

where this guy came through a really tough time, difficult hardship, pain, and he dared to call on God and say, bless me.

Has anybody remembered that this week? To speak over their lives and say, Lord, I'm going to be outrageously expectant that you bless me.

and not feel guilty about it, not feel like, what about all the starving people and all the homeless people? And how can I be so self-centered? But we move into a place where we can be a blessing to others when we are blessed.

I mean, I've got to be honest with you, there are moments where that feels a bit weird.

And then I've got to ask myself, well, why does it feel weird? Why wouldn't a child know that his parent has got all the best intentions in his life? Why wouldn't we do exactly that and come boldly and say, God, I'm going to pray an audacious prayer and I'm going to say,
bless me.

Maybe from last Sunday to this Sunday, like me, I usually forget what I preached, you know.

But this week I've made an effort to remember to declare that over my life and over your life.

And why shouldn't you be blessed? And why shouldn't I? And yes, in that blessing, as we saw last week, there's sometimes places of pain and places of hardship and places of difficulty.

And just this last week, we've seen a beloved brother of ours go and be with Jesus.

So Gail, we just want to extend you our condolences with Roger going to be with the Lord and We know it's been a struggling, hard couple of months, years that you guys have been through.

The memorial will be this coming Saturday at 2 o'clock at his church where the kids are.
