Parable of the Mustard Seed - Poppy Cowburn - Luke 13:18-21

So the mustard seed in the Bible, for those who don't know, is viewed as one of the tiniest seeds.

But then the seed grows into a plant that grows to about 8 to 10 feet tall, and that's around twice the size of me.

These tiny seeds turn into something amazing and beautiful.

A mustard tree is actually 800 million times bigger than a mustard seed.

800 million times, that's crazy.

So I did the math and if Christianity all started with 12 faithful disciples who went out and told the gospel, then Christianity is 216 million times bigger than how it started.

So we still have some work to do till we're at 800 million.

Anyways, enough about maths.

The real message here is that he sent out those first 12 to preach to the nations.

And now there are 2.6 billion Christians.

Through those 12 who were loyal and fully surrendered to God and told people about Jesus, nearly a third of the population are Christian.

Does that not just show that there is something so real about Christianity? In Matthew 28, verses 19 to 20, it says, "'Go then to all the people everywhere.'" and make them my disciples.

Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you, and I will be with you always to the end of the age." Jesus told the disciples to go out, and then they went.

They went out and they performed miracle after miracle, healing people all over the place.

They even brought people back from the dead.

In Acts 9, Peter raises a lady from the dead.

In Acts 20, Paul raises someone from the dead who fell out a window.
