In this roundtable episode, Dan KC7MSU, Brian W7JET, and I debrief on Field Day, touch on the 13 Colonies special event, and I share highlights from a three day SOTA excursion with my wife W7NRS just…
Well, why don't we start with myself? I'll talk a little bit about my last week, what I did for my anti-field day thing.
Actually, probably it's not the best phrase for it.
We rented a cheap hotel.
I think it was $120 for two nights.
So that wasn't bad.
And the outside of it was pretty rustic.
if uh you know what i mean but inside was really nice inside it was a good indoor uh motel and our favorite part about it was the the shower believe it or not had like this thing that came out of the ceiling of the shower and it was like it's basically a buckets of pouring water it just felt so good it was totally wasting water of course but it was it was really cool but We stayed there for three days, two nights.
So we left here early in the morning.
We were going to get an early start and pulled out of the driveway, made it to the Loves up there on Cordes Junction, and then got some gas.
And then I put it in drive.
And then I'm like, well, that was weird how that shifted.
And then I tried to put it out of drive, my truck, my Xterra, and it wouldn't move out of drive.
Something happened with the shifter, and it was stuck in drive.
And so I'm like, oh, we – Once this thing, I turn this off, we're not going to be able to turn it back on.
So I called a friend as I was driving back into town and asked him if he could take a look at it, dropped it off at his house, moved everything over to the car.
And so we used the RAV4 and took it on dirt roads for the first time pretty much ever.
And we did all right, I think.
So we went up to... place called White Hills Horse.
White Horse Hills, I mean.
Brian knows that one, I think.
Absolutely.
That one was as windy as ever.
We set up on there and it was blowing hard.
