WhyTWO Stings?: WCW Fall Brawl 1996

This was September 15th of 1996.

It was in Winston, Salem, North Carolina, at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

There were about 11,000 people there.

Woo.

A buy rate of 230,000.

And, uh, on paper it looked like a good show, so that's why I picked it.

Interesting presentation as a whole, I, I would say, especially in the beginning because we just start with a video package and this video package is, you know, recounting the exploits of the nWo and how they came together, how they've just run roughshod over the entire WCW locker room and how people have been joining the nWo and they've just been gaining power or whatever.

You know, all, all leading to this WarGames match that we're gonna see later in the night.

So.

The attack.

The attack, yes.

[laughs] The heinous attack.

Uh, so we see the commentary team.

It's Bobby Heenan, Tony Schiavone, and Dusty Rhodes.

And, uh, they're hyping up the main event, you know, for what seems like a couple of minutes.

There's just a lot of talking in the beginning of this pay-per-view and I was like, "Come on, can we just," you know.

There's a tagline that was really kind of corny that was, "Wanna play with the big boys? In a cage?" I was like, "Fuck.

What the hell?" [laughs] It's like so-

Yeah, I don't know.

They were just talking for a long time.

They're trying to hype up the main event.

Dusty was talking about how Sting's a part of the nWo now, and they go to footage where Sting attacks Luger in the parking lot and the nWo is right there.

But it's not like you get a great view of Sting.

You know, it looks like him.
