How to Overcome Overwhelming Emotions with Faith | Ep 8

There is a myth out there that the prayerful people are just totally always fired up and in the mood to pray.

This is incorrect.

Most of the time when I begin to pray, I don't feel like it at all.

My mind wanders, I get distracted and I feel unspiritual.

Really, the only reason I pray a lot of the time is because of my faith in what God will do as I pray.

So I'm looking ahead to the breakthrough.

But when I begin, I often feel as spiritual as a rock.

It is a bit like having to fight your way through some jungle, putting in the hard work, getting hot and sweaty to get to the beach, which is on the other side.

There you can have a swim, cool down and have an awesome and refreshing time.

Once you get to the beach, which is symbolic of his presence, it was worth sticking in there.

Praising and thanking God when you don't feel like it can be hard work, but it is worth it.

The peace of God that comes through prayer and thanksgiving is amazing.

Hallelujah.

So this is feelings.

This is the last chapter on the first third of this book.

The first third is faith.

Part two is love.

And there's quite a few chapters.

And then the last lot is deep dives into peace.

So we're just rounding up this first part of three, which is about faith.

And it's a good way to finish about feelings, because often if you talk about the message that I'm talking about, people will say, well, you're just worried about feelings.

And yet, really, it's sort of yes and no.

Really, it's more no than yes, and yet it becomes more yes than no once you finish it.
