Girl Camper Camporee 2027: Summer Camp for Grown-Up Women

What if you could go back to summer camp, only this time you could bring your camper, your girlfriends, and perhaps a cocktail or two? That’s the idea behind **Girl Camper Camporee 2027**, and in this episode of the Girl Camper Podcast, Janine Pettit and Pennsylvania Guide Stephanie Lemma are giving us a first look at what they have planned. ## We’re Going to an Island! Camporee 2027 takes place **September 8–12, 2027, at Sun Outdoors Association Island in Henderson, New York**. And yes, it really is an island. The campground sits on Lake Ontario with water surrounding it, beautiful waterfront campsites, a marina, cabins, and plenty of opportunities to get out on the water. Janine visited the campground before booking Camporee and shares some of what makes this location so special in the episode. But the setting is only the beginning. ## Think Summer Camp, Girl Camper Style Camporee actually grew out of a conversation around a campfire about *The Parent Trap* and how much fun it would be to go to summer camp again as grown women. That spirit is very much alive for 2027. Janine and Stephanie are planning a weekend filled with opportunities to play, explore, laugh, relax and meet other women. A few of the things they reveal in the episode include: - Pontoon boat rides around the island - Hiking and exploring the surrounding area - Crafts, trivia, candy bingo and other activities - An outdoor showing of *Dirty Dancing* - A Catskills-inspired dinner with a little *Marvelous Mrs. Maisel* flair - **Dancing Through the Decades** with a DJ - Plenty of time around the water - And one very interesting cardboard boat race… ## Yes, We Said Cardboard Boats One of the biggest changes for Camporee 2027 is a brand-new take on the traditional Camporee team challenge. This time, teams will be given cardboard, duct tape and a mission: **Build a boat that actually floats.** Over several mornings, teams will design and build their boats before heading to the marina for the first-ever **Girl Camper Cardboard Boat Regatta**. Will they float? Will they sink spectacularly? Either way, we have a feeling this might become one of those Camporee stories people talk about for years. ## More Than a Camping Event As fun as all of this sounds, there’s a bigger reason behind Camporee. Janine describes Girl Camper as a place where women can temporarily take off all the hats they wear in everyday life. Mom. Grandma. Wife. Employee. Business owner. Caregiver. For a few days, you get to simply **be one of the girls**. Camporee is designed to help women meet people they might never otherwise meet, try something new, laugh a lot and hopefully head home with some new friends. And you don’t have to arrive with a whole group of girlfriends.
