**In this latest episode of GasCast, Neno is joined by Caz and current fan-favourite Michael Willett to discuss all things Gas from the last three weeks.** The team discuss Paul Raynor, the Grimsby &…
So then, let's start with some club news.
The first bit I want to chat about, I don't want to spend too long on this, but Mies Rijks to Forest Green was announced last week.
I think I read earlier that he picked up an injury and is now back with us.
So from what I understand, he was there for about five days, got injured, and now he's back at Rovers rehabbing for four weeks or so, and then will go back to Forest Green once that's done.
So not the best start to the loan.
And also not great for the reputation of the pod, considering I think four of the six of us that do this chose him as our surprise of the season.
So not a great loan move for Gascast, but hopefully once he goes back, a good loan move for him.
Yeah, I mean, I was a bit disappointed to see him go out on loan, really, although completely understandable.
I think his game time is always going to be quite limited here at the moment.
So there's still that window of opportunity for him to make something of himself here.
Because that's one thing hanging over him a little bit here is that he's been stop-start with injuries.
He's been obviously on the fringes of getting inside, but then we'll just be out with a mystery injury for a few weeks and it just kind of puts him straight back to square one.
But yeah, I think on paper it is a good low move and hopefully that'll be just what he needs really to get regular game time and hopefully bang us goals in.
Three-month loan maybe suggests, though, that he's got a part to play here, second half of the season, because unlike Promise, who's gone to Southend for the full season, I mean, we probably do have a recall clause with Promise, and I think Evans has basically said that.
But I think the fact that this one with Rijks is only three months kind of suggests that we'll send him there for three months, keep an eye on him.
He'll come back in January, maybe assess him then as to whether we feel like he can play a part here in the second half or whether he goes back out on loan.
Yeah, I think it's a smart move, to be honest, because you can send him out to a lower league where he's going to get lots of game time.
I mean, obviously injury dependent now, but he should get quite a lot of game time there.
And if he can develop in himself, then we've got that flexibility to bring him back if we need.
Obviously, we don't know what will happen in our squad in terms of our strikers.
