So last time, the group had finished about a week previously another mission, an away mission.
It was just a boring survey mission going to a planet, lots of bogs, lots of slime, really not pleasant.
It was Ensign Thatcher's first proper away mission and, you know, came back.
What he didn't realise was in the sole, the tread of the sole of his boot was a pea-sized piece of goop.
which was deposited in the ship and grew in the following week into something about the size of a Yorkshire Terrier, which they had to chase through the corridors of the ship, the USS El Cajon, which I have been reliably informed is translated into The Box.
But there you go.
That's what it is.
But this was just the introduction moving toward the actual proper story, as happens in the Lower Deck shows.
They do something a bit weird, credits roll, and then on with the actual story.
And they had been sent by the first officer.
Lieutenant Commander Haim, if I recall correctly off the top of my head, to go to the transporter room and take part in crucial training in order to attempt to prevent an incursion by the Terran parallel universe just in case.
While there, apart from a minor issue with the transporter technician's breathing apparatus, because he is Benzite, There was a brief flash, which they noticed, and there was a Tribble that had appeared.
Not a transporter glow, but just a flash, almost like Q, when Q does his flashing and things popping in or popping out.
It was a Tribble, but not just a normal Tribble, a Tribble with what looked like Borg implants.
So following this...
They did a little bit of checking whilst Benson Thatcher was absolutely having a nerdgasm healing the bentite set.
Ensign Tenon put the Borg Tribble into the transporter buffer just to keep it in containment while they were doing some checks.
He didn't, I don't think, succeed in his initial test to get too much information.
The only thing he could tell was that it had not come from another vessel or from the nearby planet.
So you could continue doing some experimentation or mind melds or whatever to try to get more information.
