Star Trek: Lower Decks

Yeah, it was like a multidimensional type thing, and he was in that.

Jason, who works with us here on the movie club, said he watches the Star Trek animated series Lower Decks, which Jerry O'Connell voices.

Oh, I didn't know that.

Okay.

But I haven't seen any of it.

If

you're a Star Trek fan, you'll love it.

It's not just a cartoon.

And I'm including Strange New Worlds in that, which I'm a huge fan of.

We were getting Lower Decks at the same time as we were getting Picard.

Five seasons of that.

Can I just interject real quick? Canceled too soon.

I saw a Gorn, I think.

I saw a Cation, I believe is how it's pronounced, which the most famous Cation is Dr. T'Ana from Lower Decks, the doctor.

But we also saw one of those in Star Trek IV, The Voyage Home, which I just watched in theaters earlier this month.

And there was also a bird-like creature.

And overall, I like the season, but it was more different from other seasons than I expected.

Yeah, it was.

I mean, realistically, a lot of this season was more strange than Lower Decks.

And that's saying something.

So what happened to that issue is that it's the 60th anniversary, and they asked me if I wanted to contribute, and I said, absolutely.

Can I do Lower Decks? And they said, Mike McMahon is doing Lower Decks.

And I was like, he's got more of a claim to it than I do.

Makes sense.

What else is available? And they mentioned different eras, and they mentioned the animated series, and I was like, Yes, animated series.

That is Lower Decks Adjacent.

It's this show from the 70s that had a charitably minimalistic animation style.

For sure, which is

But yeah, they're very good to me there over at Disney with that show.

And the Star Trek win was so big for me.

I mean, I used to watch Star Trek with my mom falling asleep.

So Spock is, you know, that's Spock, you know, species.

They're so prestigious.

And Star Trek Lower Decks specifically in the Trek world is... is a comedy which is not very done at all it's very dramatic on in that in that universe so mike mcmahon you know from rick and morty was able to take on the nerdiness and love for this world and give it back to the fans as a gift so there's just fun jokes and little golden eggs and and they bring back like um captain reicher you know and as as an animated cartoon and they bring back the actors that played those roles years ago to be themselves and so like it's just a fun reunion over and over and over and the fact that to lynn my character um had some pivotal moments just as like a guest star uh it's just been released and revealed in the last season that she is now on the Cerritos, on the USS Cerritos, as she's now working for Starfleet.

And I'm excited for the fans to see what happens to her and how she blends with the Lower Deck crew.
