270: How I Went From Accounting to Chasing Cartels for the DEA

Did you ever have a moment there, maybe during your SWAT days or narcotics, when you're thinking, eh, maybe I might have bitten off a little bit more than I could chew here?

Oh, there's so many.

I've gotten several shootings while I was on the SWAT team.

You think about this.

The SWAT is who the cops call when it's too much for them, right? So you're not going into a situation.

But I'll tell the one I don't want to go into too many, but I'll go into one story for sure that I remember.

It was right in the height, if you remember, when Cops was on TV, the new show.

I remember that because I laughed.

I just drew a blank.

On International Drive, it's a famous hotel.

It's still, everybody say, in the middle of Disney World.

Right off Disney property, but I can't remember the name of the hotel.

It's a popular one.

People still stay at it.

So this individual a year before had been in there, was barricaded, had obviously some mental issues and stuff, was barricaded gumming.

We got called and short story, we tricked him by putting, he was hungry.

So we put some Subway sandwiches outside his hotel door and he opened the door and we pounced on him and we put him away.

So a year later, he checks into the same hotel.

And the only thing he did while he was in jail was, was read SWAT magazines.

He came prepared, right? He had all the, all the things that we had done before.

He was like living for this.

So he calls 911 and requests the negotiator by the same negotiator by name and said, Hey, I was here.

I'm back on this time.

I'm not going to fall for the subway sandwich.

And he had gas and everything.
