Cops

The SWAT is who the cops call when it's too much for them, right? So you're not going into a situation.

But I'll tell the one I don't want to go into too many, but I'll go into one story for sure that I remember.

It was right in the height, if you remember, when Cops was on TV, the new show.

I remember that because I laughed.

I just drew a blank.

I could see the thistles moving, but it made no sound at all, like it was pushing through them silently.

All I could compare it to in my kid mind was how they blurred people out on the show Cops, except it was far more transparent.

And what I was seeing through, it looked more like heat waves than pixel distortion.

In what felt like hours, but was probably only a few minutes, it passed across my entire line of sight.

Coming up after the game, Cops and America's Most Wanted.

We're in the top of the tenth, a two-two score, series even at a game apiece.

Crespo trying to put the Giants back out in front.

Look at this.

Bobby Valentine's gonna put a towel over it.

[crowd cheering] [dramatic music] Again, coming up after the game, Cops and America's Most Wanted.

So Bobby Valentine, who over the years has been accused of espionage tactics, has to cover that camera with a towel.

I could, I could talk about X-Files forever.

One of the ones that I've recently watched, um, with my girlfriend was the one where it was, like, filmed as if, like, it was a Cops episode.

Yes.

I remember that.

Okay.

And so, like, it's, the episode takes place where, um...

It's like, there's, it's an episode of Cops where they're filming the thing, but then, like, these freaky things happen and then, like, Mulder and Scully show up, and now they're moving around with the cops and everything.

But the thing I loved about that episode, if you wanna talk about, like, excellent storytelling, is like, they drop all of these, like...

[laughs]

The capture, a Cops scenes.

Yeah, yeah.

Oh.

Yeah, the Irvine PD, they're freaking crazy with it.

Might as well have some fun with it, right?

Um, and, uh-

Just lining it like Cops.

[laughs] If, uh, and I guess so he took, uh, he took, what's it called? Accounta- [laughs] What's it called? We don't have it anymore.

Accountability.

And then I was looking up other Fox reality shows.

Fox reality was w-where Cops lived, which I never really watched Cops, but-

Oh, I did, unfortunately.

[laughs]

[laughs] You know, I had, I had a feeling.

The Cops to baddies t- uh, pipeline is, is a straight line.

[laughs]

It's a, a direct line.

I think obviously there's some movie magic in it, but it's based on a true story and pulled from reality.

But just the other show that I was thinking about and I heard people discussing was Cops, which is a show that was on my house.

But I think it was basically our 60 Minutes.

Because I believe it was in syndication after football.

Yeah.

But there's this podcast series.

that I have not listened to yet about the making of Cops.

I was turned on to it because hearing so many people talk about this movie.

Yeah.

I felt like I was at, on, like, a Cops episode.

[laughs]

Like, or just watching a Cops episode.

Yeah.

It was crazy.
