Casting Chaos & Controversy: Ariana Grande, Hadestown, Bowen Yang in Oh Mary, & Ana Gasteyer

Let's get on in to our Broadway grosses, shall we? [cash register dings] This is for the week ending on August 2nd.

Our number one is Hamilton, grossing 2.3 million.

Death of a Salesman, in their second to last week, is at number two, grossing 2.2 million.

They are about to close now, so by this time, it's, like, ramping up for their final week.

I, it will have closed, and I will have not seen it, and I am okay with that.

I will sleep well at night.

It won't keep me up knowing that I missed Death of a Salesman, although I'm sure it's good.

Lion King is three at 2.1 million.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is four.

Ragtime is five, 1.8 million and 100% capacity.

MJ is six, grossing 1.8 as well.

Lost Boys is seven, 1.5 million and 97% capacity.

And Wicked is eight, 1.4 million.

This isn't a new story, but guys, Wicked is releasing rush tickets.

Is that a recession indicator? They've never done that in my knowledge.

They've never done that.

The fact that you can rush Wicked for $45, one, I need to know where these rush seats are, and two, sign me up.

Sign me up.

I love that.

I don't see why I wouldn't see every new cast now.

It's the best show on Broadway, hands down.

Like, let's all just be honest with ourselves.

It is the best show on Broadway.

And now it's gonna completely shake up my recommendations to people, because I definitely recommend shows that you can get an inexpensive ticket to, and now I'm just gonna be like, "Well, have you seen Wicked on Broadway?" Because it is different.

It is very different on Broadway.
